Laura Vinci (Brazil) exhibits two pieces specifically conceived for spaces where there is movement of people. The first is Lux, an installation in the Palace’s Blue Room, made with 500 suspended crystal glasses that come down from the ceiling to almost touch the floor.The agglomerate arrangement of the transparent pieces, together with the oval shape of the room, allows the internal structure of space to interact with the floating glass structure, which is suspended therein. The counterpoint of the space with the constructed work heightens awareness of the architecture and increases it by the physical recognition that the visitor is invited to make by changing their position, with the intent of visualizing the work from multiple angles. Made of crystalline material, the piece is a eulogy to the elegance of transparency and light on the massive forms. The second piece, entitled In air is a machine for producing mist which generates a cinematographic atmosphere in the palace garden. With Lux and Air, both deeply picturesque in their evocations of the sublime and cinematographic, Laura Vinci introduces a romantic atmosphere in two of the most symbolic spaces of Carpe Diem Arte e Research.
