In his exhibition at Carpe Diem Art and Research, Carlos Maciá occupies different spaces of the Pombal Palace to carry out specific pictorial interventions in dialogue with the architecture of the building. They consist, therefore, of invasive appropriations of the paintwork, expanded and unrestrained painting, which invades the space surrounding its architectural elements, using them as a simple pretext to question the limits of their own medium, dealing with the “what” and the “how” of continuing to paint nowadays. One of the obsessions that runs throughout the work of Carlos Maciá is the use of all those attitudes which a priori are lacking an artistic purpose and of rescuing opportune accidents. The works presented here are open and adaptable, using situations which arise until they chance upon the final intervention.
