In Acontecimento V, Vera Mota presents a collection of drawings in an accrual not only of the many layers which several of the drawings are made-up from, but also from those that are superimposed within each design. From the initial moment when the materials are assembled on the sheet of paper there occurs decisive moments, accompanied by endless possibilities of accidents and mis- takes.Vera Mota makes use of this chance to produce graphics that are the subject of planning and categorization. In this process logic of determined selection is used by the different characteristics of each material, such as color, texture, coverage power, transparency, opacity, brightness, permanence, method of application, and populated areas. To manage the unpredictability and chaos inherent to the medium, perceiving defects as being an advantageous circumstance, the artist performs an intuitive method of selection which serves to complete the task of producing her designs.
