Handmade, Todd McQuade

Friday, 13 May, 2011 - 12:00

For three days, from the opening to closing hours of Carpe Diem Arte e Pesquisa, the US artist Todd McQuade will build structural environments and enact performances that address the qualities of belonging within the space of the Palácio Pombal.Using materials and resources that are available, either found, donated, imagined or purchased, the artist constructs a landscape, a structural parameter that he calls a Temporary Autonomous Zone.

With Handmade Todd McQuade wants to demonstrate the need of a place, the influence of space. It is an attempt to build a territory where all fit together - the construction of autonomy, sustainability, and the relationships that self, that being human, shares with place.

Handmade is Co-Produced by Todd McQuade and Sasha Waltz & Guests, with additional support from Tanz Haus Zurich.
