Performance/Installation from the piece ‘Something STILL Uncaptured’

Indications for visitors

Audience is expected to move in the space as a 'silent explorer', approaching, stopping, walking around the 'action'. The public can come and go whenever it wants, managing its own observation time.

Synopsis

In my choreographic work I have been exploring two principles used in sculpture: 'immobility can express its opposite' and 'the best way to boost movement is to do it through a static object'. To create movement first I consider the 'empty' space and in it, the 'body', in a certain degree of immobility. This intervention in Carpe Diem, built as a moving landscape, like an echo, a reflection of the show "Something STILL Uncaptured", is also a choreographic experience in an exhibition space, where I want to reflect on the 'body' as place and as a form in the 'space'.

Biography

Maria Ramos, choreographer and dancer, develops his choreographic work in Portugal since 2009. She studied at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Arnhem (2000); Dance Forum (2004); 'ARTEZ Master of Choreography' in ARTEZ Institute of the Arts (2008). In 2006 starts the choreographic project 'A Certain Degree of Immobility', characterized by artistic actions of research, creation and training, which includes her recent works and the new creation 2013. In Portugal her work was supported by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and DGArtes Internacionalização e Apoios Pontuais.
