The duo Sara & André work with self-referentiality and the promotion of their image through discursive objects. The artistic production of the duo resulted in the critical materialization of fame, conveyed through the rigorous machination of the media spectacle. Their works, always novel, are based upon a survey of the sources of production of art theory and contemporary culture, which directs their artistic practice but, most of all, its physical integrity. In the piece Casal de Pavões (The Ambassadors), resulting from an artistic residency at Carpe Diem Arte e Pesquisa, Sara & André make these iconic exotic birds their representatives and, at the same time, an integral part of the artwork.
